Advice For Future Students
If you are seeing this blog before the sign-up deadline ends, SIGN UP! Joining Canes in Cannes was the best decision I made for my academic career. It opened my eyes to so many opportunities in the advertising world, from sitting in on inspiring talks by global industry leaders to networking with top creatives and executives from around the world.

My first piece of advice is know your people - especially when it comes to the Who's Who Test. Even after you take the test, you will see the faces you just studied for a month in person. With knowing peoples names, company and position, I felt more comfortable going up to them and starting a conversation.
Girl Boss Town was on our test and some of us went to her talk and were able to network with her. She also asked us to be in a TikTok. Do not be afraid to put yourself out there and introduce yourself because what is the worst that could happen.

Another piece of advice is to be open to changes. Your schedule that you pick out before the festival is more than likely to change. Everyday my plan changed based on events I did not hear about or not being able to get into a talk. But on the flip side, do not stress about not being able to go to enough talks per day. There is so much going on that you will try to be two places at once!

To make sure you’re ready for Cannes, here’s my advice on what to do in the days before the festival. For example: what to pack, how to plan, and what I wish I’d known beforehand!

You WILL shop, so do not pack too much. Make sure to bring a pair of heels but NOT for the festival. You will need the comfiest shoes you can find for festival days. When I left France, my feet were beat up because I choose fashion over comfort. This goes the same for clothes as well. It is very hot and you will sweat through everything. So just come prepared. Also, bring a mini fan, electric or paper, if you can.
